Abbadon was the last city standing when we said goodbye.
Wracked by warfare and drained of our resources, our planet was dying. So, we did as we had always said, and took to the skies. However, not all of us could leave the planet for one reason or another. Poverty, stubbornness, reluctance, fear-- something kept us glued to the planet, our home, and after a few centuries, we were left behind, our communications cut off. We were forgotten.
Over time, Earth was abandoned, left to reclaim itself. However, with so much radiation and poison left behind, our mother planet mutated and festered rather than flourish. Strange creatures came from our sick animals breeding, and consuming these animals brought these same mutations unto us. Those of us lucky enough to avoid mutation have earned the nick name Absolutes, and those gripped by body-altering mutations have come to be called the Tarnished.
Relics of our world that was are still here and vital to us. Robots, meat factories, gardens, solar power complexes, technologies, weapons, computers, androids-- you name it. Our society is still here, still running, though we're constantly struggling against foes both internal and external. Horrible monsters, famine, a slowly growing corrupt government. But we'll survive. We'll manage. We always have.
